Equiti Ventures LLC ("we", "us", "our") operates the Calorique mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Information We Collect
When you use Calorique, we may collect the following information:
- Account information: Email address and display name when you create an account.
- Profile data: Age, height, weight, dietary preferences, cuisine preferences, health goals, and eating persona — used to personalize your experience.
- Nutrition data: Meals you log, calorie and macro tracking data, water intake, and meal plans.
- Health data: With your permission, we may read step count, active calories, and exercise data from Apple Health or Health Connect to personalize recommendations.
- Photos: Meal photos you take for food recognition are processed to identify dishes and estimate nutrition. Photos are not stored on our servers after processing.
- Location data: With your permission, approximate location may be used to suggest nearby restaurants.
- Device information: Device type, operating system, and app version for troubleshooting and compatibility.
How We Use Your Information
- Provide personalized nutrition tracking and meal suggestions.
- Power your AI nutrition coach with context about your goals, cuisine preferences, and dietary needs.
- Enable Family Kitchen features so household members can share meals.
- Generate insights about your eating patterns and progress.
- Improve the app and fix issues.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:
- Service providers: Public cloud infrastructure for hosting and AI processing — only as needed to operate the app.
- Family Kitchen members: Shared meal data is visible to members of your kitchen group.
We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. Nutrition data is primarily stored on your device with cloud sync for backup and cross-device access. We use secure public cloud infrastructure with row-level security policies to protect your data.
Your Rights
- Access: View all your data within the app.
- Self-service account deletion: You can delete your account entirely on your own — no need to contact us. Go to the You tab → scroll to the bottom of your Profile → tap "Delete Account." This permanently and irreversibly removes your account and all associated data from our servers within 30 days. No data is retained after deletion.
- Deletion by email: You may also request account deletion by emailing privacy@caloriqueapp.com from the email associated with your account. We will process your request within 30 days.
- Export: Request a copy of your data by contacting privacy@caloriqueapp.com.
- Opt out: You can revoke health data, camera, microphone, and location permissions at any time in your device settings.
Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom (UK), or Switzerland, we process your personal data under the following legal bases as defined by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Consent: You provide explicit consent when you create an account, enable health data access, grant camera/microphone/location permissions, or join a Family Kitchen. You may withdraw consent at any time by adjusting your device permissions, leaving a kitchen, or deleting your account.
- Contract performance: Processing necessary to provide the Calorique service to you — including nutrition tracking, meal logging, AI coaching, meal plan generation, and account management.
- Legitimate interests: We may process data for app improvement, security, and fraud prevention, where our interests do not override your fundamental rights.
Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the following additional rights under applicable data protection law:
- Right of access: You may request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: You may request correction of inaccurate personal data. You can also update your profile directly in the app.
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"): You may request deletion of your personal data. You can do this instantly via the self-service account deletion in the app (You tab → Profile → Delete Account), or by emailing privacy@caloriqueapp.com.
- Right to restrict processing: You may request that we limit how we process your data in certain circumstances.
- Right to data portability: You may request a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Right to object: You may object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

International Data Transfers
Calorique is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the app from outside the US, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers, including standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms as required by applicable law.
Data Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the service and fulfill the purposes described in this policy. When you delete your account, all associated personal data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained for analytics and product improvement.
California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- The right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
- The right to request deletion of your personal information.
- The right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

Children's Privacy
Calorique is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under the applicable age, we will promptly delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of Calorique after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
